Lady Gaga: Unlike Madonna, I’m a producer, a writer, I play instruments and I write my own music

Lady Gaga sat down with Zane Lowe for an exclusive interview to promote her upcoming album.
She talked about her childhood and the impact having an overprotective father had on her.

When Zane Lowe compared her story with Madonna’s, stating Madonna “lived a very parallel story”, she implied that she does much more than Madonna, including writing and producing her own music.
Lady Gaga probably chose to ignore that Madonna wrote, co-wrote and produced over a hundred songs.

Here’s what she had to say…

Madonna and I are very different. Just saying. I wouldn’t make that comparison at all and I don’t mean to disrespect Madonna. She’s a nice lady and she’s had a fantastic huge career. She’s the biggest pop star of all time, but I play a lot of instruments. I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I’m a producer. I’m a writer. What I do is different.

I’m not just rehearsing over and over again to put on a show. There is a spontaneity in my work. I allow myself to fail. I allow myself to break. I’m not afraid of my flaws.

There are major differences between me and her and I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way. I just will not be compared to anyone anymore I am who the fuck I am and this is me. My life story is my life story, just like yours is. The thing is that we all express things in different ways, but my rebellion against my father for being angry with him, for being angry with me, that has ended.
