Madonnarama reader Alex attended the #SecretProjectRevolution screening in Toronto, but not everything went according to plan…

Around 8:30PM, an Enterprise rental van pulled up to 9 Trinity Street (Distillery District, Toronto). Out came a production team (which included Sticky & Sweet Tour Director Nathan Rissman) who started to set up a projector and speakers. The team informed us that Madonna had personally hired them to premiere the Secret Project film in Toronto, and that they would be going to 4 designated locations to show the film. (9:00PM: 9 Trinity Street, 10:00PM: Art Gallery of Ontario, 10:45PM: Bata Shoe Museum and 11:30PM: 273 Bloor Street West.)

There were about 100 Madonna fans that showed up, eager to watch the premiere of the film. The production team then showed us where they would be projecting the film – on a brick wall in the Distillery District. At around 8:45, security from the Distillery District showed up and tried to shut the whole thing down, saying the team did not have permission to show the film there. It looked like the team tried to negotiate with security. I’m not sure if they worked out a deal, but all I know is that at 9PM sharp, the film started to play in front of the Stirling Room on the wall.

About 5 minutes in, the film stopped – we all thought security pulled the plug on the whole thing, but it was just a technical glitch. About 5 minutes later, the film started again and ran smoothly. Throughout it, we could see security on the phone, and they did not look pleased. After the 17 minute film ended, everyone ran to the next location. There was such a positive energy in the crowd. Although there were a few glitches, no one seemed phased by it. Everyone was there to see what the Secret Project was all about, and be apart of a revolution.

The film was amazing – very artistic, and visually stunning. Overall, it was an amazing night. It was awesome that it was projected on a brick wall, too – it felt very raw. We all felt like this was the start of something big. Madonna never fails to impress. I am excited to see what the next step of the Secret Project is, and where it goes.
