Rebel Heart gets big sale bump, but radio is still not Living For Love

Madonna’s “Rebel Heart” album sales got a huge bump after she performed “Living for Love” at the Grammy Awards. The album climbed back from nowhere to No. 24 on iTunes. This is impressive, as the album won’t be released until March 10. Pre-order it HERE.

According to Mediabase, “Living For Love” has made an unimpressive impact at US pop radio. The single was added by only fifteen pop stations in conjunction with Tuesday’s radio impact, and no such add was from a station in a major market (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, etc).

While a first-week add count of 15 is neither objectively terrible nor a sign that a song will never make waves on the airplay chart (Meghan Trainor’s phenomenon “All About That Bass” received fifteen adds on impact), it is discouraging in this particular context.

The weekly adds report does definitively reveal that the song is not starting its radio run with massive support. It is not debuting at pop radio from a position of power.

US fans can request songs at KIIS-FM and Z100.
